April 2011 Newsletter

We've got some big changes in store for SCTeam, and today's newsletter will tell you all about it. First of all, the admins would like to send a big THANK YOU to all the members who participated in our Spring Forward Promotion!

Some of you donated an item for the grand prize drawing, others put the logo in their shop or offered a discount for the coupon code. SOME OF YOU (noted with the asterisck) did ALL THREE!! Thanks to all who participated--we appreciate your enthusiasm and cooperation throughout the process. We had 19 entrants; 6 of which won the coupon code, 5 of which entered the grand drawing. Our winner was a young mom named Heather, and she was very excited to win! "I never win anything! Are you sure it was my name you drew?" she said. The grand prize gift basket, filled with all the wonderful things donated, is already on it's way to Heather now.

While we were disappointed that more team members didn't participate, we're very thankful to those who did. Hopefully, with promotions like this in the future, even more SCTeam members will jump in and join the fun.

The Admins (Sandy from Morgan Alexa Designs, Rosemary from Minnie Maes, and Abby from Simply Charming in SC) will be taking the summer off from the team. All challenges, promotions, contests, giveaways, birthday blogs and newsletters will be suspended until September. We will spend the next few months 1) relaxing, 2) regrouping and 3) restructuring the team. We're looking forward to having some time off, and hope that, when we return in the fall, the entire team will be ready to jump in and join us in all the challenges, contests, promotions, and giveaways we hope to have.

In the interim, all questions and conversations should be directed to the SCTeam Etsy Page. While the offsite Message Board will still be available, we will no longer be updating it, at least during our vacation. We are encouraging members to continue to discuss their shops (sales, promotions, new listings, etc) as well as continuing to promote the team using team-themed treasuries. We'll be keeping in touch with everyone through the Team Page, so don't disappear on us! Also, if you have any questions for the admins, feel free to post them there.

Also, it was voted on and decided that new members to the team will no longer be required to register on our off-site message board. We are hoping to figure out a way to stay in touch with our members using ONLY the Team Page. More on this in the fall.

Lastly, we also decided to update our Facebook page. We're changing over to a new community page, found HERE (or you can search for us using "South Carolina Etsy Street Team"). Please head over and "like" us, so you'll be able to stay up-to-date with your fellow team members throughout the summer.

If you are interested in becoming a team leader, please contact one of the admins above and we will happily discuss duties we'd love to pass on to willing, able, dedicated members! (Examples: blog contributor, birthday greeter, challenge coordinator, giveaway coordinator, advertising specialist, etc.) Also, if you have ideas on how to get this team moving again, let us know! We're always interested to hear how you want this team to function.

Thanks again to all the dedicated members who make this team what it is. We appreciate you all and hope you have a fantastic summer! We'll be back in September!

The Admins

March 2011 Newsletter

Another month is upon us, SCTeam, and we're moving forward with our Spring Forward Promotion! In this month's newsletter, we'll give you an update on how things are progressing with the promotion, a few ideas that were discussed at the March meeting, and a few quick reminders. So, let's kick things off with this month's Featured Member!

SHOP: Oriskany Glass
ABOUT: Dan, from Greenville, is a master craftsman when it comes to stained glass. He's had several other occupations--including publishing, kitchen and bath design, operations management, software developer and business analyst, just to name a few--before he added stained glass to his extensive resume. His shop is filled with the most gorgeous, eye-catching glass pieces you've ever seen!
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN FIVE WORDS: "Adventurous, unconventional, resourceful, workaholic, driven."
HOW DID YOU BECOME A STAINED GLASS ARTIST? "I started working in stained glass a little over a year ago. It was something that I always wanted to try. I bought some used equipment and supplies on Craigslist and a how-to book and made my first panel. I create most of my items at night. The best part of working with stained glass comes in the morning when my items are lit by natural light for the first time."
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT GREENVILLE? "Being close to the mountains and lakes, and my proximity to downtown Greenville is what attracted me to this area. Greenville has a great arts community."
WHAT WAS THE FIRST THING YOU CREATED THAT MADE YOU THINK, 'WOW, I MIGHT BE REALLY GOOD AT THIS?' "A lampshade. When I finished it, and it was actually round and looked so nice lighted, I was hooked and thought I may be good at this."
FEATURED ITEM: Autumn Poplar Branch

March is the month of preparation for our big Spring Promotion! If you haven't read about it, please visit the Promotions section of the Message Board.

An update on how things are going: we currently have 8 volunteers participating in the Coupon Code Shopping Spree, 10 members have offered to send Donations for the Grand Prize Basket, and 12 have offered to place the Logo in their shop. A big THANK YOU to those who have already volunteered!!!

As thrilled as we are with those who have already stepped up to join the party, we're still looking for people to participate in this promotion. It's super-easy to participate!! Visit the links listed above to read up on how you can join the fun. This promotion will be a terrific way to drive traffic to your shop!

Also, if you don't have the time to participate in one of the ways listed above, we need EVERY member to start spreading the word about our upcoming promotion. Put it in your shop announcement, Tweet it, Facebook it, Blog it---let all your friends, family, and fans know that they will soon have a huge opportunity to win a super-dooper prize! Remember, the "Logo Search" begins April 1, and ends April 4. Only non-members are allowed to enter. They will be given a list of shop links to visit, and will be responsible for finding the hidden logo in each shop. When they're all done, they'll email a coordinator with their finished list of logo'ed items in order to enter. Those who submit a correct entry will be eligible to take part in the SCTeam Shopping Spree! To win the grand prize, entrants will submit the correct list, as well as a link to a blog, Tweet, or Facebook shout out in order to be entered to win the grand prize.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the actual running of the promotion. There will be an influx of emails with entries, and we need some help to weed through them all. If you're interested in making sure entries are correct, if you'd like to help send out emails of the shop lists to entrants, or would be willing to check links to FB messages, blogs or tweets to determine their authenticity, please contact Abby at

If you have any questions regarding the Spring Promotion, please read about it in the Rules thread, or send any questions to Abby at

**Due to lack of participation, it was decided at the March meeting that we will no longer have monthly Creative Challenges. Instead, we will have 4 big Creative Challenges a year, with a prize package to be determined. If you're interested in donating to a Creative Challenge gift bag, please visit the message board here.

**We had a long discussion with a few team members in our last meeting about what they're doing to promote their own shops. Treasuries were brought up several times. Consider creating a weekly treasury to get your name out there--and if it's a SCTeam themed treasury, please share it with us here.

**If you know about, or are participating in, an upcoming craft show, please share it with other members on the message board! We've had a few posted recently, so if you're looking for a way to get our there and sell, visit the Fairs, Shows and Festivals thread on the message board.

**SCTeam will soon be getting a major facelift!! Stay tuned as we prepare to launch a new and improved blog, team logos, and team shop. We're looking to become more marketable!

**The team also decided to purchase another ad on Craftopolis, to run during our promotion. Look for it from March 27 to April 2. Team Admin Sandy put up a list of traffic increases associated with our last Craftopolis ad, which you can find on the message board.

**Welcome to our new members!! We encourage each of you to jump right in and partake of all the fun stuff we've got going on right now!

February 2011 Newsletter

Happy February, TeamSC! Love is in the air, and we're looking to cash in on the mood this month with a new creative challenge, some new team advertising, and an upcoming spring promotion. We even have some surprises in store! So let's jump right in to February's newsletter and meet this month's Featured Artist, Laura of Laura B. Scott Photography!

ARTIST: Laura from Myrtle Beach, SC
SHOP: Laura B. Scott Photography
ABOUT: Laura has lived, and photographed, across the United States. She attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and it was there that she took her first photography class and immediately fell in love.

"I had finally found a medium that allowed me to express myself.
Through the camera lens, I am able to capture lovely moments
and share with others how I see the world."

Laura recently moved to SC and is taking steps to become active in the arts community both in Myrtle Beach, and on Etsy. We're certainly glad to have her be a member of TeamSC!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN MYRTLE BEACH? "The beach! I love the waves and the sand - and of course the shells I find on the beach give me a great deal of inspiration for my latest series of photographs."
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS: "This turned out to be the toughest question of all! I reached out to some friends on Facebook to help, and I was very flattered by their responses. So I am going to go with what my elementary school best friend said--determined, compassionate, and loyal."
TELL US ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WE DON'T KNOW: "I love to road trip! My first road trip was to Savannah from Philadelphia. Later that same year I drove cross country with a friend for two weeks. It was official--I was hooked! Now every year I make it a goal to road trip somewhere, even if it's just a long weekend. It's very inspirational and makes me appreciate this country even more. I've been across 6 times and counting. Even my dogs know what the phrase "Let's go on a road trip" means!"
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR? "One color? I couldn't possibly choose just one. It depends on my mood. I love different colors in combinations with each other--red and teal, pink and green, navy and bright yellow, chocolate and lavender, deep purple and orange...I could keep going!"
FEATURED ITEM: "Affection," an 11X14 Fine Art Photo. Don't miss Laura's February Sale--15% off all red and pink items in her shop until February 15th!

TeamSC will be hosting a Spring Promotion, "Spring Forward with TeamSC," and you can get started now! The promotion itself will run April 1, but we have a LOT of organizing to do before then. This promo will be much like the stocking hunt we did 2 Christmases ago (for those who were members then.) Rules have been outlined on the message board HERE. Here's how the promotion will work.

HOW TO PLAY: Entrants will “hunt” for a hidden TeamSC Spring Promo logo, using a list provided of shops to look through. They will fill out an entry form, including the listing number for the item in each shop with the logo. Any entrant who submits a completed, 100% correct entry form by the cutoff date wins!

PRIZE: Any entrants who submit a correct entry form will win a Shopping Spree with TeamSC!

GRAND PRIZE ENTRY: To enter the grand prize drawing, entrants can include the following along with the correct entry form: 1) the listing number for their favorite item from the contest, which they must also “heart” in their shop for it to count and 2) write a blog about the TeamSC Spring Promotion on their own personal blogs.

GRAND PRIZE: A spring basket filled with donated TeamSC prizes.

The promotion will begin at noon Friday April 1 and will be over at noon Monday April 4. The grand prize will be shipped Tuesday, April 5.

There are 3 ways team members can participate in this promotion:

1) You can volunteer to have the team logo in your shop. Visit THIS THREAD.
2) You can volunteer to be included in the shopping spree. Visit THIS THREAD.
3) You can donate an item to the grand prize gift basket. Visit THIS THREAD.

We'd like to encourage all our members to visit the links provided and read all the details about this spring promotion so you can best decide how to participate. Whether you choose one of the three items above or not, we are hoping every single member will do their duty by advertising this promotion in whichever way works best for them: tweet, blog, Facebook, email---whatever works!

If you are interested in volunteering to help with this promotion, please contact Abby at

**The Admins would like to welcome Kristi, from speckleddog, to our ranks as a new author on our team blog! Kristi will be writing a "column" on our blog, starting soon, that's aim will be to help members improve their shops. Stay tuned for Photo Taking How-To's, tutorials, treasuries, tips to improving your personal shop, and more! We're so excited to have Kristi on board--we hope you'll read her blogs and learn something new! Welcome, Kristi!

**For those who frequently visited the monthly chat forums on Etsy, the team section has officially been removed. Etsy is restructuring the way we use the team pages, so we'll no longer be able to post where we did before. We'll be turning all our attention to the official TeamSC Page, so look there for daily announcements, reminders, and general chit-chat.

**Once again, we'd like to send a big THANK YOU to Bob of DreamWeaver Shop for paying for a TeamSC ad on If you haven't seen it yet, head on over. We'll be featured there until Saturday, February 12th!

**We are asking all team members to add TeamSC on Facebook as your friend! It seems a few of you didn't know we had an active Facebook page, so if you haven't friended us, head on over and check us out! Also, ask all your friends to add us, as well---the more friends we have, the more people on Facebook know about TeamSC challenges, treasuries, birthdays and more! Search TeamSC on Facebook to find us. You can even add a badge to your personal blog account---just check out THIS THREAD on the message board to learn how!

**Congratulations to Jackie of City Details and Tina of TandJ Creations for winning January's Creative Challenge, Fire and Ice! You can read all about them in their feature blog.

**Don't miss February's Creative Challenge, Winter's Last Blast! We're still looking for entries--and remember, you can interpret the theme any way you'd like! Winners will receive a feature on the team blog. You can post your items on the message board, and your item will be added to the team shop. Remember---this is only a promotion if you make it one! So enter your items today, and tweet, blog, and Facebook all about it!!!

**If you have any promotions, sales, or announcements you would like made in the weekly TeamSC email (always sent out on Mondays) please contact Abby at

**Welcome to all our new members:

January 2011 Newsletter

Happy New Year, TeamSC! With 2011, we're striving to be more dedicated, more involved, and more focused on our Etsy Street Team! Our mantra for the next few months is participation, participation, participation!! So if you've been looking for a way to get more involved in team events, challenges, contests and promos, then 2011 is the year for you! Let's jump right in with this month's featured artist.

ARTISTS: Kay and Lori from Lexington, SC
SHOP: Bedesisters
ABOUT: This sister-in-law duo spend their time crafting gorgeous goodies from fabric. Handmade fabric baskets, jewelry, scarves, and bags--you'll find them all in Kay and Lori's shop. Their goals this year are to devote more time to their craft and their etsy shop, as well as participate in more indoor craft shows.
DESCRIBE YOURSELVES IN 5 WORDS: "Creative, colorful, often tired, occasionally temperamental---in one word, family."
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LIVING IN SC? Kay is a South Carolina native, while Lori has adopted SC as home. Kay says, "My favorite description of SC is 'a place where winter comes late and never wears out its welcome,' although, it's coming perilously close this year!"
TELL US ONE THING WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU. According to Kay, "Lori can put together a theme party in her sleep. My children think she's a genius." And Kay used to work in a hydrogeology research lab, where she helped with studies of reclaimed coal strip mines. How cool is that?

As mentioned before, TeamSC is looking for major participation from our members in 2011. We're putting all our focus and attention into team challenges, the team shop, and keeping members abreast of all the happenings within TeamSC. We're calling all members to step it up and really focus on helping the administrators with creative input, challenge themes, and promoting the team! We want to be the best Etsy Street Team we can be! So here are a few things to be looking for in the coming weeks.

**We are looking for creative members who have super-dooper thinking caps to help Rosemary (MinnieMaes) come up with new and inventive Creative Challenges for the team. We want to know what type of challenges you'd be most interested in, and which ones you would be drawn to participate in. So, stop by THIS THREAD on the message board and let your ideas be heard!

**There's a new section on the message board titled "Participation." Bookmark it and check it often for details on how you can get involved with TeamSC! From Challenge ideas, marketing ideas, and more, you'll find lots of useful information on this thread.

**I don't know how many of you have visited the Team Shop lately, but it's a little empty. So, TeamSC, we're looking to our members, new and old, to help us fill our shop to the top!! For those new to the team, the idea behind the Team Shop is to promote South Carolina artists who are members of TeamSC by showcasing a variety of items from different shops. Your item does not have to be themed in any way---we want to see the best representation of what you do on Etsy. It costs $1 to list 3 items, and you will keep the proceeds made with a sale, minus the listing fees. When an item sells, you will be notified by a TeamSC administrator, who will send you all the shipping information you need to send the item to the buyer. For detailed instructions on how to list your items on the TeamSC Shop, read THESE THREADS on the Message Board.

In addition to listing three items at a time, you can also enter one of TeamSC's monthly Creative Challenges to enter an item into the team shop. Rather than listing your challenge item into your own shop, you will list it in TeamSC's shop. We will waive the listing fee, and the rest of the rules are the same. There is a detailed instruction thread on the message board HERE. This way, we're sure to get lots of new items in the team shop!! (Remember, you can't list the same item in two separate shops on Etsy---their rules, not ours. So the item you upload for your entry into the Challenge must not be listed in your shop and ours, unless it is a duplicate.)

**The administrators will also begin sending a weekly email, to help keep our members as up-to-date on team events as possible. These emails will include reminders about challenges, upcoming events and promos, local craft fairs, and other information pertinent to the team. These emails will begin next Monday, January 17, and will continue to be sent every Monday. If you are not receiving these emails, please contact Abby from SimplyCharmingSC.

**There were some questions on how to list a photo on the Message Board. That question has been answered on a new thread on the Message Board titled "How Do You Do That?" If you have any questions at all about how to use the Message Board, address them here, and we'll be happy to help!

**We are looking for members interested in sharing their skills at marketing. TeamSC is currently on Facebook and Flickr, and now we're looking for volunteers who know how to put us on the map. If you have any ideas or any knowledge on how to promote TeamSC off site, please contact one of the Admins (listed at the bottom of the newsletter.)

**The Business Card Promotion discussed in October's meeting has been tabled for now as we are focusing on team participation. We will pick it up in another meeting later this year. For now, check out Etsy's new Coupon Code tutorial.

**January's Creative Challenge, Fire and Ice, is up and ready for entries! Check out the Message Board for more details. Let's dive right in, TeamSC!

**We've had a huge increase in our numbers since our last newsletter in October, so prepare to shake out the red carpet, TeamSC, and let's welcome our new members!

October 2010 Newsletter

It's the spookiest month of the year, TeamSC! But there's no need to be frightened--we've got TONS of upcoming promotions, challenges, and possible regional meet-and-greets to keep you busy in October! Let's take a look at what's going on with your favorite Etsy team!

ARTIST: Michelle from Simpsonville
ABOUT: This self-described happy, spontaneous, fun-loving artist creates re-useable sandwich bags from colorful fabrics to fit your lunch-packing needs. Michelle's mother taught her to sew when she was 9 years old, and she's been unstoppable since. She's a fan of handmade all the way, so Etsy was a natural fit for her. "A friend told me about Etsy and I fell in love with the idea of handmade items being sold on the internet. I thought to myself that I just had to do it. And I'm so glad I did!" Michelle's shop is the best place to find re-useable bags of all types--adorable, functional, and earth-friendly!
FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN SC: "I love the people here in South Carolina. Everyone always seems to have a smile on their face and are available to help you at anytime. Simpsonville is great. It keeps growing, but maintains the small town feeling."
FEATURED ITEM: Reuseable Sandwich Bag "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"

We are still busy planning lots of promotions, contests, and team challenges to get as much traffic in your Etsy shop for the Christmas holidays. So this month's big news is to catch you up on all the goodies we promised you in last month's newsletter!

Our Secret Santa promotion will kick-off on November 8! Look for rules, details and ways to participate on THIS THREAD on the team forum. Thanks again to Jenn of JetCreations for offering to run this promotion!

We are also planning to combine the creative challenges for November and December into a 2-month long challenge we're calling "Gift Giving Delights." Team members will have plenty of time to enter, and the entry with the most votes will win a team sampler!!! So stay tuned to the forum for more information on this holiday challenge!

We are still hoping someone will volunteer to run another Holiday Stocking Hunt promo, but we're running out of time! Check out the thread listed above for details, and if you're interested in helping out or taking charge of this very successful promotion, contact one of the moderators (listed at the bottom of the page.)

Our main goal with all these promotions and challenges it to get as much traffic in our shops as possible!!! If you have any other ideas or suggestions for holiday promotions, let us know!

**We're looking for team members interested in donating to our "Team Samplers." If you'd like to donate something from your shop, check out THIS THREAD, or contact Rosemary at MinnieMaes to find out how to participate.

**You still have plenty of time to enter the October Creative Challenge, "Celebrating the Harvest." We didn't have an entries for the September Challenge, so if you've been saving your best work, get in there and post it before October 26.

**BIG thanks to Haute Interiors LLC for offering to help with the Business Card Promotion---this will be a big help for the holiday season, too, if we get it kicked off soon enough! Stay tuned for more info HERE.

**There was some discussion at October's team meeting about an upstate meet-and-greet! If you're interested in participating, look for information on THIS THREAD. There are several other threads on the team forum for other regions in the state. If you're interested in setting up a meet-and-greet in your area, check out the threads for the Mid-Upstate, the Midlands, the Low Country, and the Myrtle Beach Area.

September 2010 Newsletter

It's another month, TeamSC---and this month, we're promoting volunteerism!! If you've been looking for a way to help TeamSC, September is your month! We've got promo ideas galore, all leading up to the busiest shopping season of the year!! So let's take a quick little break from homework, book reports, carpooling and football practice to find out how YOU can help TeamSC become the best team it can be!

ABOUT: This loveable grandma knows a thing or two about TeamSC-she's been a member for quite awhile! Hazel describes herself as being responsible, loyal, and creative. And her creativity is apparent in the vast array of goodies you'll find in her shop. Be prepared to be welcomed into a homey, comfortable atmosphere when you visit Nascarnana's Shop! Whether you're looking for hand sewn quilts or unique artwork, you'll find them here. You can also find a plethora of gorgeous antique items in Hazel's second Etsy shop, Nana's Finds.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LIVING IN SC? "The winters are usually very mild, and we live close to the mountains and the beach."
FAVORITE COLOR: Purple and hunter green
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WE MAY NOT KNOW: "I have 7 children so I started being creative early, making Halloween costumes, Christmas decorations, pillows and quilts for gifts. I really enjoy new projects. My mom is ill right now but I hope to soon be able to get busy again."

Hazel says, "This baby blanket is perfect for someone taking the little one out to the ballgame!" And we agree!!

The major topic of conversation at September's meeting was all about Christmas!! Wait--Christmas in September, you say? Absolutely!! We're looking to get started on some major promotions for our team, and our #1 goal is to get as MANY shoppers as possible into YOUR Etsy shops during the busiest time of year.

Some of you veteran team members will remember the Stocking Hunt promotion we did back in 2008. We're looking to bring it back in 2010! For those who weren't members, or didn't participate, here's the premise: Volunteers sent items (valued at less than $20), gift cards and coupons to one of the moderators to create a stocking filled to the brim with the best TeamSC had to offer. Team members then "hid" stocking logos (provided by the team) into one of their item descriptions in their personal shops. Participants in the Stocking Hunt went to TeamSC shops looking for the stockings, and those who found them were included in the drawing for the giveaway. Not only did this promo increase traffic in TeamSC shops, but we saw an increase in sales as well!

Our always prepared Sandy has already posted a link on the Team Forum with all the ins-and-outs of the Stocking Hunt promo, and now we're looking for eager volunteers to coordinate and run the Stocking Hunt for 2010! So head on over, read all about it, and let us know if you want to be Santa's Little Helpers for TeamSC this year!

The other promotion we're looking to bring back is Secret Santa--which is ALWAYS fun. This will be a promo within the team. We are looking for a volunteer to run this promotion, too. If you would like information about how we did the Secret Santa swaps in the past, please contact Sandy (MorganAlexa Designs.)

So--anyone out there who's been looking for a way to get in there and help out their favorite Etsy team, now is the time to do it! Our holiday promotions work best when we have plenty of volunteers to help us out. If you're interested in heading up, or assisting, in either of these promotions, please contact one of the administrators (information listed at the bottom of the newsletter.) Thanks in advance for helping us make TeamSC the MOST successful shop this Christmas!

***We are also looking for a volunteer to coordinate and run the Business Card Swap idea that was discussed during July and August's meetings. For information, follow THIS LINK to the forum! As this idea hasn't been fully figured out yet, Sandy, Rosemary or I will be happy to help you get started!

***September's Creative Challenge theme is Creepy, Crawly, and Sweet! Think: Halloween, people!! Check out the thread on the forum--you still have time to enter!!

***Congratulations to Michelle of Honeysuckle House for winning August's Creative Challenge: Back to School! You can read all about her as our featured seller on our team blog.

***It's the craft show/festival/fair season again, and we're interested to know what's going on in your neck of the woods! If you know of a festival, fair, or craft show that other team members may be interested in participating in, or if you'd like to share your photos and craft show experiences with us, check out THIS THREAD on the team forum, and let us know what's going on in your hometowns!

***Finally, it's been another month of new members for TeamSC!! We have 10 new members since our last newsletter!!! WOW! We've had so many new members in the last couple of months--it's very exciting!! A big, warm, SC welcome goes out to: Charleston Charm, Cosmic Girl Designs, G & L Jewelry, Lady Gwen's Bridal Boutique, Haute Interiors, Miss Tan Designs, Lisa G. Designs, Pixie & Puck, SoSa Designs, and Tiaras & Turtles.

August 2010

Hello fellow sandlappers! As you can see, the newsletter has gotten a bit of a facelift!! So make sure you bookmark our new address! Looking for information provided from a different month? Just check out our Previous Newsletters section at the bottom-right of the page. Now, without further ado, let's jump right into August and see what's hoppin' with TeamSC!

ARTIST: Kim Winkeler
SHOP: Kwinkeler Photos
This Charlestonian photographer really knows her biz! Her photos from nature are must-haves for any collector. Kim describes herself as loyal, friendly, compassionate, and funny. She's a non-conformist by nature, and her unique photography is definitely proof of that.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT CHARLESTON: "I love anything and everything having to do with Spring in Charleston. The weather can't be beat, and all the blooming flowers, shrubs, and trees make this one of the most beautiful places I've ever lived."
WHAT DREW YOU TO PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE FIRST PLACE? "I've been interested in photography for as long as I can remember, but I was never very good at it, and that frustrated me. I finally took some classes in 2007, and once I started taking photos that captured what my eye and mind were seeing, I was hooked."
WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION FOR YOUR ART? "Mother Nature! When is the last time you looked at something as mundane (and possibly detested!) as a dandelion? They really are beautiful, and the intricacy of the flowers is amazing. The beauty found in nature is wonderful."

FEATURED ITEM: Yellow Sunflower 8X10 Photograph

TeamSC is getting creative with our ideas to promote the team! We've got a new "business card swap" idea that will let YOU advertise your monthly sales on the team blog. With the help of Anna (Brown Bag Boutique), we'll be creating a list of individual shop sales that will come with a printable "business card" that you can include with each of your sales. Not only will your shop get lots more exposure by being included in this sale swap, but you'll also be promoting your fellow teammate's shops by sending out information that will (hopefully) lead to more sales for TeamSC as a whole!!

The moderators are still working out all the kinks on how this idea will take fruition, but stay tuned to the team message board for all the details soon!
